Update from the Phelps Historical Museum

Phelps Historical Museum to open in May

The Phelps Historical Museum’s opening is scheduled for early May, with an Open House on Memorial Day, following the annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Phelps cemetery. Be sure to plan a stop in to browse through the interesting history of this small town and see all of the amazing old pictures and artifacts.

Pictured below, several volunteers recently helped out at the Historical Museum with the annual membership mailings, labeling and stuffing envelopes with the newsletter and membership brochure. It’s always a good time to get the friendly volunteers together for a project!

In Other Museum News…

The  Museum committee is organizing an Antique Appraisal Day in July.  Make plans to bring in your items to get a professional review as to historic and monetary value.  Over 1000 old pictures will be shown with hopes of identification of people, places and events.  Throughout the day, there will be food, wine, beer, and soft drinks available.

In 2017, an Historic Walking Tour of Phelps was set up with 19 stations of plaques with pictures and stories.  Maps are available at the museum and on some of the stations. Be sure to take the time to browse the Walking Tour this summer to see what once was on the very ground you stand on.
