With 40 miles of fantastically groomed snowmobile trails, there are lots of opportunities to explore this winter wonderland. Connect easily to the 600 miles of trails that Vilas County boasts, as well as 3000+ miles in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for even more sledding adventures. And with Phelps bordering the state line, the lake affect snow means that you will find more snow for longer in the season than southern areas of Wisconsin.
You couldn't expect any less than some of the best trails in the world, with the World Championship Snowmobile Derby taking place every winter in nearby Eagle River! If you miss the race, you can always visit the World Championship Snowmobile Derby Hall of Fame at the World Snowmobile Headquarters.

Get ready to ride for miles on the world-class snowmobile trails that weave through the Chequamegon-Nicolet Forests. For your convenience, Corridor Trail #6 passes within a block of town. You can easily access plenty of excellent snowmobile resorts and a variety of dining options right from your sled.
The Phelps snowmobile trails are carefully groomed and tended to by the dedicated volunteers of the Phelps Snowmobile Club. And don't forget – belonging to your local Snowmobile Club means that you get a discount on your trail passes! Stop in the Phelps Chamber office to pick up your trail map and support the efforts of the Snowmobile Club.

Be sure to read Wisconsin Snowmobile Laws before hitting the trails. Need to pick up a trail pass? Swing by the Phelps Convenience Center on Highway 17. If you need to register a new sled or renew a license, you can do so in Land O’ Lakes.
Mixing your favorite winter sport activities? These snowmobile trails cross many area lakes (Smokey Lake, Big Sand Lake, North & South Twin Lakes, Kentuck Lake, Long Lake, Lac Vieux Desert), providing quick and convenience access for a bit of ice fishing!
