Local Tip: Where to Paddle in Phelps

There’s really no way to go wrong when choosing a lake or waterway to enjoy a morning or afternoon on the water boarding. However, you may find it easier, especially when just starting out, to pick a quiet, low traffic lake and build up distances over time. We recommend:

  • Spectacle Lake – make the most of your camping getaway at Spectacle to check out this crystal clear lake from a paddleboard.
  • Whispering Lake – this 23 acre lake would be a fun place to try your hand at SUP fishing, with low traffic and a strong population of panfish.
  • Wisconsin River – with the headwaters of this mighty river flowing from Phelps, this paddle route is a must for any serious paddler.
