31st Annual Great Northern Ice Fishing Tournament
The Phelps-Land O’ Lakes Lions Club will again be hosting the Great Northern Ice Fishing Tournament this Saturday, January 28th and they say that there is still time to register!
The event will beg held at the West Shore Boat Landing on Lac Vieux Desert near Sunrise Lodge, with registration briefing beginning at 8 am. There will be a morning contest from 8 am to 12 pm and an afternoon contest from 12 pm to 4 pm. Cash prizes will be awarded for the largest fish in each of 5 categories:
- Northern Pike
- Walleye
- Crappie
- Bluegill
- Perch
There will also be special awards for the largest Northern over 36 inches and the largest Walleye over 26 inches.
Dinner & Prizes to Follow the Ice Fishing
The tournament dinner will be held at the Lac Vieux Desert Resort Casino in Watersmeet, immediately following the fishing tournament. The bar opens for a social hour at 4:30 pm, and dinner will be served at 5:30 pm. Door prizes, tournament prizes, and great raffle prizes will be awarded during the dinner. Registration is $50 per person in advance, which includes dinner, and each additional dinner guest will be $15. All proceeds from the 31st Annual Great Northern Ice Fishing Tournament are used to fund local charities and public service organizations. The Phelps-Land O’ Lakes Lions Club is a local non-profit club established over 30 years ago and dedicated to service in our communities.
