Twin Triathlon

3rd Annual Phelps Twin Triathlon

2015 Twin Tri

Join us for the 3rd Annual Twin Triathlon on August 26th, 2017 in Phelps, Wisconsin. Compete as an individual or a team, with each member doing one leg of the challenge. Start with an 8K paddle on beautiful North Twin Lake, followed by a 16K bike and a 5K run.

This is truly a breathtaking course to experience the wonders of Northwoods nature with some fun and friendly competition! The paddle leg will go around North Twin Lake, with waves and choppy water adding to the challenge. You may even spot an eagle soaring above!

The bike route is a mixture of surfaces, with significant gravel and not recommended for road bikes. The run course, which is midway through the bike rouse, also takes place on a mixture of surfaces, with very little pavement. Each are on the Vista Lake Biking Trails, through heavily forested lands where you will enjoy a mixture of sun and shade and feel as if you are a thousand miles from civilization.

Individual registration for the Twin Tri is $35, and team registration is $90. All participants will receive event t-shirts, with additional shirts available for order. Download the 2017 Rules and Registration to learn more. For more information, call 715-545-3800 or email

Wondering if the routes are available so we can check them out?

    • Celeste July 14, 2016 at 3:00 pm #

If you download the 2016 Rules and Registration from this page, you will see a rough map of the paddle, bike, and run routes. We will be biking up Deerskin Road to the Vista Lake Biking Trail parking area, and then running Vista Route 1, before biking back down Hunters Road. Happy training! ~ Celeste

Great event once again. Thanks for all the work, Celeste! Also thanks to all the volunteers for keeping us safe.

    Are there age classifications?

    • Celeste July 12, 2017 at 6:31 pm #

Bob, no there aren’t. Just individuals, family teams, and adult teams. We did have a 9 year old finish the whole route by himself the first year, although we let him paddle in a duo kayak with his mother for that segment. We have also had a 68 year old finish the course as an individual.

Do we provide our own bikes or will there be bikes to use for the day?

    • Celeste August 2, 2017 at 7:58 pm #

Jeffrey, you would need to have your own or rent one. Please give us a call or email if we can help find you a rental company. Hope you will be able to join us!

Is there bike-run option? I don’t have a water vessel.

    • Celeste August 2, 2017 at 7:59 pm #

There is not yet, but you could consider putting a team together. Or perhaps you could rent one? Give us a call at 715-545-3800 or email if we can help.

Are there kayaks available for rental? Do we have to bring our own?

    • Celeste August 2, 2017 at 8:00 pm #

We do have businesses in the area that supply rentals. Wildwood Outdoor Adventures is one, and I’m sure that they would have what you need. Feel free to call or email us if we can help in any way.
