Scarecrow Fest a Big Hit!

Scarecrows, Pumpkins & More!

12041719_1631736367100215_1967530112_nThe Women’s Club knocked it out of the park again this year with a great day of fall fun all throughout downtown Phelps. There were many interesting vendors, selling everything from Phelps on the Lake shirts (that’s us!) to locally made maple syrup, handcrafted jewelry, and much much more.

The event was very well-attended, and some of the food vendors even had to close down early. Visitors could sample the Women’s Club chili for free, and then choose from burgers, brats, pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, deep-fried cheese curds or onion rings, and even pumpkin soup or reuben quesadillas. There was fresh-squeezed lemonade and some of the best looking cream puffs that you could ever see. Lesson learned – come early next year for the best treats!

The Pumpkin Chuckin’ is always a hit, as well as the sea plane rides. The weather was perfect to enjoy the day downtown Phelps, with a slight autumn breeze coming off of North Twin Lake. The sun was shining bright, and visitors seemed to be taking their time exploring the day’s offerings, which included hay rides, archery demonstrations, wood-carving, kids activities, wine tasting contest, and more.

The real fun, though, came in the form of scarecrows of course. Who said scarecrows have to be serious? Apparently, they don’t, judging from the creativity and humor that was evident around town. Pictured to the left is one of the winning designs, along with the picture below and the sheep scarecrow from Whataview Farm & Fiber. Hmmm…pumpkin pie has taken on a whole new meaning!

Save the date for the 6th Annual Phelps Scarecrow Fest – September 17th, 2016!
