Phelps Announces 4th of July Parade Theme
Preparations are under way for the annual Phelps Independence Day Celebration that will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 2nd, 2017. The festivities will kick off with a parade through downtown, with local businesses, organizations, or individuals invited to partipate.
The 2017 Phelps 4th of July Parade Theme will be “Lake Livin’”. This theme was chosen to celebrate one of our favorite features of the Northwoods, all the beautiful clean lakes that we enjoy so much.
What is Lake Livin’? It’s when time gets just a bit slower so that the fun can last just a bit longer. It means more outdoor fun, more relaxing, more breathtaking sunsets. It’s what Phelps locals love and why our visitors come to our area. Fishing, swimming, boating, paddling, lounging…ice fishing, ice skating, and more.
Each person likely has their own image come to mind, anything from a day at the beach to that huge musky but each comes with an incredible view, something worth celebrating. Maybe you are just picturing a beautiful sunset on North Twin, or a grand ol’ adventure – there’s no wrong way to do lake livin’.
Parade floats are encouraged (but not required) to be designed with this theme in mind, and feel free to let those imaginations fly! We can’t wait to see all of the creative and fun floats that will be in the parade.
Those interested in including a float should contact the Chamber office via email at ChamberOffice@PhelpsWI.us or call 715-545-3800. The float entry form can be found on Facebook or at www.Phelpswi.us. Don’t forget that we are also currently seeking parade marshal nominations!
The parade will be followed by live music on the shore of North Twin Lake, kids activities and inflatables, pie eating contests, dunk tank and more. We are looking forward to a great 4th of July celebration for 2017!
