Join us for the 2015 Phelps Maple Syrup Fest!

Sugar Bush ToursOn April 11, Phelps will again be holding its Phelps Maple Syrup Fest at the Phelps School located at 4451 Old School Rd. The Maple Cafe’ will be serving waffles and Pure Phelps Maple Syrup and Johnsonville sausages beginning at 8:00 AM.  One of the activities featured during our event is the guided bus tour of local sugar bushes. The buses will leave the school at 9:30 AM to visit two sugar bushes and return to the school by noon, in time for the Maple Syrup Judging contest and lunch at the Maple Cafe’. The buses will again leave at 1:00 PM to visit two other sugar bushes and return to school by 3:00 PM, in time for the end of the silent auction and a wrap up of the festivities.

The sugar bush tours will give the participants a first-hand look at maple syrup being produced in various situations and with varying methods. Experience the smells, sights and sounds of the production of one of America’s oldest food staples. Methods may have changed, but the final product is still Pure Maple Syrup!

Maps will be available at the Fest grounds for those interested in self-guided/driven tours of the sugar bushes. Sugar bush operators will be open for visitors from 9 AM until 3:00 PM.

There will be a variety of events for the family to enjoy at the fest. Some things to look forward to are the Craft show and sale, tree tapping demonstrations given throughout the day, maple equipment display and sales, Pure Phelps Maple Syrup sales, delicious food prepared by Sunrise Lodge’s Maple Cafe’, Maple Syrup Judging contest, children’s activities and a presentation by Alice in Dairyland.
