Big Muskies & Big Prizes Caught in Phelps
The Phelps Chamber is proud to announce that the 38th Annual Midwest Musky Classic was another success. This longstanding big fish tournament was held on October 5th, 6th and 7th in Phelps Wisconsin, with musky fishing on North & South Twin, Lac Vieux Desert, and Big Sand Lakes. Over 135 participants fished the tournament in hopes of taking home some big prizes.
Over the weekend, 17 fish were caught and safely released on the four lakes, with only one caught on North Twin Lake. And that lone musky from North Twin won its hunter over $1800 and a Lax Replica of the winning fish. Katie Praedel, from Milwaukee Wisconsin, placed first in the tournament with a 47 ¼ inch musky caught on Saturday, October 6th. She also took home Big Fish of the Day for Saturday and won the gun raffle.
Second prize, $800, and Big Fish of the Day Friday went to Jerome Hahn of Sherwood Wisconsin for his 47” musky caught on Lac Vieux Desert. Brian Fons from East Troy Wisconsin took third place with a 46 ½” fish caught on Friday on Big Sand Lake. And Big Fish of the Day Sunday went to Wayne Stuckman from Cleveland Wisconsin.
During the tournament luncheon on Sunday, 2017’s winner was presented with his 48” Lax Replica of the winning fish. Brandon Lewandowski, of West Bend Wisconsin, also took home the Rod/Reel raffle prize amongst several others.
The 39th Annual Midwest Musky Classic will take place on October 4th, 5th and 6th, 2019. For more information, please contact the Phelps Chamber at 751-545-3800 or visit the website at www.PhelpsWI.Us.
