Snowmobile Trail Report For 1-29-16

A Great Weekend For a Snowmobile Trip!

Trail Report From Avid Rider Thomas Kolling:

Trails are in pretty good shape, little rough here and there, and on the ungroomed trails. There is plenty of snow and it’s packed down good. Corners are in good shape, as well. Few areas have not been groomed recently and are a bit rough. The snowmobile trails are looking good and should be in great condition for the weekend.

Trail Report From Phelps Snowmobile Club’s Dick Schultz (SnowTracks)

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 10 to 12? on the ground

Area Report: 4:00 PM +16 deg, light snow
We have received about 4+inches of new snow in the last 18 hours and it’s still snowing. This will do nothing but improve our trails. We will be out grooming tonight and the next few nights. As always, ride right as you are not the only one out there. Enjoy your ride!! We will update again on Saturday.

A Note From The Chamber

The weather is gorgeous today in Phelps, and the weather reports indicate that this will continue. After a day of snow and wind, the sun is shining and the temperature is roughly 22 degrees. The weatherman is calling for highs above 30 for the rest of the weekend, and a few more inches of snow on Sunday.

If you are heading up to enjoy our wonderful snowmobile trails this weekend, stop in the Chamber office at 2429 State Trunk 17 to pick up your snowmobile map and other information about the area. Looking for something to do this weekend off the trail? Take a ride to Iron River, Michigan to check out the IronLine Sled Dog Races, which will be taking place Friday and Saturday. You can enjoy shopping in the Musher Village vendors area, sled dog races starting at 6 pm on Friday and at 8:30 am on Saturday morning, as well as fat bike races beginning at 10 am on Saturday.

To all the riders out there this weekend, and to the Women on Snow Tour, happy trails!
