A FLURRY OF WINTER FUN PLANNED FOR THE NORTHWOODS BLIZZARD BLAST!

Winter fun for everyone is happening at the Northwoods Blizzard Blast on Saturday, February 13, 2016.  Plan now to head to the Conover Community Park and enjoy a full day of activities sure to cure your cabin fever.  Benefits northwoods area Fire and EMS Departments.

Whether you opt to watch the madcap Recliner Races games from the sidelines or sign up your own team, this event is bound to amuse as participants slip and slide around the ice track. Try your luck in Ice Bowling for a chance to win cash prizes. Challenge your creative side in the Snow Sculpting Contest, or join in the judging for “People’s Choice”.

Dreaming of a warm summer day at the ball park? Come out and watch teams battle each other at Snowshoe Baseball. And for those who prefer a more serene activity, grab a hot cocoa and a toasty S’mores and climb aboard for a Horse Drawn Sleigh Ride through the scenic northwoods.

Kids will enjoy being pulled in the Dogsled Dash and taking aim in Youth Archery. Fun activities planned for children also include snow castle building, downhill sledding, ice skating, face painting and more, with prizes for one and all. Bonfires and indoor warming areas will chase the chill away.

The Blizzard Blast Bazaar will feature artisans and exhibitors demonstrating their trade. Held in the Conover Community Center, you will find yarn spinning underway, homemade candies, handcrafted soaps, northwoods themed jewelry, artisan breads & cheeses, handmade sea glass & copper jewelry and more.

Activities kick off at 10:00 AM and continue until dusk, capped off by an incredible fireworks finale.

Snacks, sandwiches, chili and beverages are available to warm your tummy all day long. Bring your friends and family and head to Conover to support your area Fire & EMS volunteers.
