Phelps Women‘s Club accepting applications for scholarships

imagesAlong with accepting applications from Phelps High School seniors, The Phelps Women’s Club has extended its academic scholarship applications to include adult residents of Phelps interested in continuing education.

Applicants are required to have been Phelps residents for the last three years or since 2012. Applications are available at the Phelps Public Library during library hours. For information call Geraldine Arlt at 715-891-7172.   Applications should be mailed to  Arlt at P.O. Box 233  Phelps, WI 54554 and post marked by April 22, 2015.

 

Phelps Easter Egg Hunt planned

Easter Egg Hunt in PhelpsThe Phelps Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for Saturday, April 4 at 11 am at the Phelps School for children through 6th grade or 12 years old.  Rob Andersen III, of Hillside Resort, and Colin Crawford of Colin Crawford’s Guide Service are coordinating the event.  The event is funded by donations from community businesses and residents.   There will be a visit from the Easter Bunny who will visit with children prior to the hunt. A hot dog and chip meal will be offered at no cost.  All children will receive a chocolate bunny, goodie bag and stuffed animal.  Children are asked to bring an Easter basket and a non-perishable item for the food pantry.   If you would like to make a monetary donation send to Andersen at 2410 S. Shore Road, Phelps 54554 or Crawford at P.O. Box 61 in Phelps or call Andersen at (715)547-3646 or Crawford at 545-8347.  Checks should be made payable to Phelps Easter Egg Hunt.

Benefit scheduled for Dave and Kim Johnson

Benefit at Sunrise LodgeThe Phelps 8th grade students have planned a benefit breakfast for Dave and Kim Johnson at Sunrise Lodge on April 25 from 7:30-11 am.  Johnson fell 18 feet and is paralyzed from the waist down.  Currently he is at Mayo Clinic for 4-6 weeks of rehab.  His wife, Kim, is the Phelps School band teacher.    Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under and can be bought from the 8th grade students, the Phelps teachers or in the school office.   In addition there will be a silent auction, raffle and bake sale.  Raffle items include a samsung tablet donated by the Phelps Booster Club;  ipod donated by Phelps Parents Association; half day guided fishing trip donated by Jason Pertile; and a weber gas grill donated by Jensen Akins.   Raffle tickets are $5 a piece and you need not be present to win.   Silent auction items are donated by the Phelps classes.  Items for the silent auction baskets, bakery and monetary gifts are greatly appreciated.  Call the school for information at 715-545-2724.
