Ducks Unlimited Ladies Event

Annual Northern Snow Wings Area Ladies Ducks Unlimited Event

Thursday, May 19th – Three Lakes, WI

The Northern Snow Wings Area Ladies Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will be holding their Annual Fundraising Banquet on Thursday, May 19th at the Oneida Village Inn in downtown Three Lakes. Funds from these banquets are used to conserve, restore, and manage wetlands for waterfowl and thousands of other species of wildlife that use the marshes and wetlands as part of their annual life cycle needs. This year’s themed event is “Red, White & Blue-The Ducks Need You”. Ladies are encouraged to dress in all three colors to be entered to win a special prize. The ladies event is unique in that most prizes are centered around what ladies like; jewelry, home décor, stays at local lodging, and more.

“We have always been thrilled to see ladies from across the Northwoods, from southern communities to the upper peninsula communities join us for this popular event,” said Cindy Starke, the event lead. “In the past we have seen ladies come in by bus, carload or walk across the street, which only shows the dedication we have here in the Northwoods to habitat management and of course, sharing a wonderful evening with other ladies from the area.”  Most of the attendees coming to the ladies event do not even hunt, but we all understand how important wetland conservation is to our environment.

In addition to providing critical wildlife habitat, wetlands also act as natural filters for sediment and pollutants that would severely limit the natural productivity of our lakes and streams. These projects are large scale and expensive but the benefits are worth the investment.

The results of the work DU does in Wisconsin is large scale and has immense benefits. Since 2001, Ducks Unlimited has conserved and restored nearly 4,000 acres of critical wildlife habitat in Vilas County and the surrounding areas. Wisconsin Ducks Unlimited has recently reached an unprecedented milestone of 115,000 acres conserved in Wisconsin at a cost of over 14 million dollars. Over 300 species of wildlife use Wisconsin wetland habitats.

Save the date and mark your calendars.  Please join the ladies from across the Northwoods for a great night of food, fun and wonderful prizes: please contact Jessica @715-891-4909 for reservation information or Cindy at 715-546-2042 for general event information or to make donations or sponsor this event.
