61st Annual Pig Roast & Fireman’s Picnic in Phelps WI

Annual Pig RoastThe Phelps Area Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their 61st Annual Pig Roast & Fireman’s Picnic this Saturday, August 5th at Wavering Park in Phelps, Wisconsin. The event runs from 12 to 9 pm and promises to be a fun filled day for all ages.

Food will be served all day, including the best pork sandwiches in the northwoods, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, roasted corn, and hot dogs and chips available for kids. The Phelps Fire Department Auxiliary will be baking several treats available for dessert.

Entertainment for all Ages

Live entertainment begins at 2 pm with Mark Wayne, a Country One Man Band that entertains with both his music and humor. Mark will be followed by local favorite The Chillbilly’s, a high-energy band playing a variety of genres.  The grand finale will be fantastic with fireworks displayed over the park.

An all-new kids’ colorful fun run/obstacle course will be taking place at 2 pm and 4 pm. This new activity complements the popular craft area, bouncy house, and fish game. At 5 pm, there will be a real-life automobile accident scenario including a surprise visit you won’t want to miss.

Grand prize raffle tickets offer a chance to win a 10-foot Angling Kayak, Apple iPad Pro, YETI Cooler and Ryobi Tool Kit, along with other prizes donated by firefighters and local businesses. Prizes will be drawn at 9 pm. The Fire Department will also be raffling prizes throughout the day, including a Savage 17 Series Bolt Action Rifle, an AR15 Semi-Automatic Rifle, and (2) half pigs that are cut, wrapped and frozen.

The Phelps Area Volunteer Fire Department is made up of 28 dedicated firefighters and are currently raising funds for general fire protection services, a new off-road rescue vehicle, and the building of a second fire station located at 930 St Hwy 17.
