Midwest Musky Classic Fun in Phelps
We had so much fun with this year’s musky fishing tournament! We had 119 participants who registered 18 fish during the 37th annual Midwest Musky Classic fishing tournament. The tournament took place October 6th, 7th & 8th and included 4 lakes – North Twin, South Twin, Lac Vieux Desert, and Big Sand Lake. Most participants call Wisconsin home, but three other states sent a musky fisherman to Phelps, including Georgia, Illinois and Indiana.
With some past year’s only seeing 3 registered catch and releases, 2017 matched the catches from last year and had those of us that didn’t even see a fish excited. A big thank you goes out to our volunteer judges – Sunrise Lodge, Tom (Thunder Bay), Robbie (Hillside), Glen (Darton’s Twin Pine Resort), and Ron (Big Sand Lake) and all of the volunteers and sponsors that helped make this tournament possible.
